Lualdi supports Ronald McDonald House Milan Niguarda
Lualdi has chosen to support Ronald McDonald House Milan Niguarda, the new facility providing accommodation for families with children and adolescents receiving treatment at hospitals in Milan who need to stay away from home during the course of their care.
The company’s involvement in the project reflects an approach to social responsibility rooted in proximity, consistency and tangible action: supporting local organisations, understanding their value first-hand and contributing through the expertise and know-how that define the company.
In this case, the contribution has taken a very tangible form. Lualdi donated the doors for the interiors of the new House, providing products and expertise that embody its design culture.
As an element that both separates and connects spaces, the door takes on particular significance here. Privacy, protection and the quality of the environment become essential aspects of everyday life for those who will temporarily call the House home, alongside the functional requirements of the project.
A new House for families
Promoted by Ronald McDonald House Charities Italy, the new Ronald McDonald House Milan Niguarda was inaugurated on 24 September 2026 at ASST Grande Ospedale Metropolitano Niguarda – Hall 14, Milan.
The facility represents a significant expansion of the Family Room at Milan’s Niguarda Hospital, which opened in 2020 at the height of the health emergency to support the Paediatrics and Neonatal Intensive Care departments, doubling the space available to guest families from 300 to 600 square metres.
The number of bedrooms has increased from three to seven, complemented by shared kitchens, living areas, laundry facilities, remote-working spaces and a quiet room. The increase in accommodation capacity responds to the challenges associated with travelling for paediatric healthcare: every year, around 90,000 families in Italy are forced to travel far from the towns and cities where they live to provide their children with the specialist care they need, facing unexpected costs, organisational difficulties and the emotional isolation that adds to the daily burden of illness.
“Seeing the completed House was deeply moving. A project we had followed through drawings, materials and the various stages of its construction had become a real place, ready to welcome families going through an especially difficult time. This is precisely what gives tangible meaning to our contribution: knowing that the doors we donated are not simply elements of the interior, but play a part in creating spaces that can offer protection, privacy and a sense of normality. In a facility like this, even the quality of the spaces can help a family feel a little more at home,” stated Chiara Lualdi, Marketing and Communications Director.
For Lualdi, supporting Ronald McDonald House Milan Niguarda is a tangible way of putting corporate responsibility into practice: making the company’s own resources and expertise available to address a real, local need through a contribution consistent with its design culture.
