Qatar Foundation, a non-profit organization encompassing over 50 institutions across education, research, and community development, selected Lualdi to contribute to the architectural identity and functionality of both its headquarters and the Qatar National Library through highly customized, symbolically rich interventions.
For the Foundation headquarters, Lualdi provided:
Wall&Door system in Canaletto walnut – A modular system of panels with fully integrated flush doors, enhancing the functionality and elegance of institutional spaces while maintaining architectural coherence with the vision of OMA – Rem Koolhaas.
For the entrance to the Qatar National Library, Lualdi crafted a striking architectural feature:
Custom monumental solid wenge door, 6 meters tall and 3 meters wide – Designed to remain permanently ajar as a symbolic gesture, the door is engraved with the Arabic word IQRA (“Read”), rendered in gold steel, and features a multi-level QR code engraving that transforms the surface into an interactive invitation to knowledge, reading, and discovery.
